According to recent update Canada may reduce its immigration targets over the next few years. The 2024 goal of 485,000 PRs could be lowered by 90,000, bringing it to 395,000. For 2026 and 2027, targets initially set at 500,000 could also see cuts to 380,000 and 365,000, respectively. This means fewer PR allocations overall.
In addition, Canada has already put limits on Temporary Resident Visas (TRVs) and might introduce further reductions. The goal is also to lower TRV holders to 5.2% of the total population from the current 6.5%.
