Indian graduates at Australian higher education institutions can seek jobs without sponsorship for up to eight years from July 1. Work hours for overseas students have been increased to 48 hours per fortnight, and a two-year work visa extension has been granted, according to multiple news sources.

India and Australia recently signed a migration and mobility collaboration agreement to open up new opportunities for students, academic researchers, and business professionals. A specific program known as the Mobility Arrangement for Talented Early-Professionals Scheme (MATES) has been formed as part of this agreement.

MATES will provide 3,000 annual opportunities for young professionals from India to spend two years in Australia without the requirement for visa sponsorship.

MATES is a temporary visa program aimed at graduates of recognized Indian colleges with degrees in specialized fields of study. Engineering, mining, financial technology, artificial intelligence, information and communication technology, agricultural technology, and renewable energy are all eligible vocations for the MATES Visa.

Candidates must be under the age of 31, have an education from a recognized and validated university, and be in the early phases of their professions to be eligible for the MATES visa program.

The price and visa processing period for the MATES visa has yet to be disclosed.

Australia previously stated its aim to overhaul its immigration system to speed up the entrance of highly educated people into the nation. By expediting the visa procedure for highly educated professionals and developing steps to retain overseas students, the government hopes to recruit talented migrants.
